You must not steal.
Luke 12:15-21 NLT
15 Then He (Jesus) said, “Beware! Guard against every kind of greed. Life is not measured by how much you own.”
16 Then He told them a story: “A rich man had a fertile farm that produced fine crops. 17 He said to himself, ‘What should I do? I don’t have room for all my crops.’ 18 Then he said, ‘I know! I’ll tear down my barns and build bigger ones. Then I’ll have room enough to store all my wheat and other goods. 19 And I’ll sit back and say to myself, “My friend, you have enough stored away for years to come. Now take it easy! Eat, drink, and be merry!”’
20 “But God said to him, ‘You fool! You will die this very night. Then who will get everything you worked for?’
21 “Yes, a person is a fool to store up earthly wealth but not have a rich relationship with God.”
Proverbs 19:17 NLT

LIFTING THE POOR
Grace flows into this world and collects in deep pools at the low-points of society. If you want to experience grace at its greatest concentration, go be with the poor.

Mark 12:41-44 NLT
41 Jesus sat down near the collection box in the Temple and watched as the crowds dropped in their money. Many rich people put in large amounts. 42 Then a poor widow came and dropped in two small coins.
43 Jesus called His disciples to Him and said, “I tell you the truth, this poor widow has given more than all the others who are making contributions. 44 For they gave a tiny part of their surplus, but she, poor as she is, has given everything she had to live on.”
Matthew 25:40 NLT
40 …’I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these My brothers and sisters, you were doing it to Me!’
If you have lost Jesus, go to the poor; they will lead you back to Him.
- Dick Foth
What is keeping me from being more generous?
If serving the poor is actually serving Jesus, how do the poor practically figure into my relationship with Jesus?
